DIRECTIONS
Plan your route using www.shellgeostar.co.za. Click here to view a fun map of the Mkuze West Reserve upon which Bayete Zulu is situated.
International Visitors:
Flights arrive from international destinations into Johannesburg airport daily, you will need to change from the International terminal to the domestic for your flight to Durban, Here we can collect you by arrangement, this is then followed by a scenic 3.5 hour drive to the lodge.
Our recommended route is to arrive into Johannesburg International Airport and then to take a connecting flight to Richards Bay airport. Here we will collect you followed by a scenic 1.20 hour drive through Zululand to the reserve. For those who do not wish to make the journey by motor vehicle a charter flight can be arranged from Durban or Richards Bay to Mkuze followed by a 20 min drive to the lodge. Our preferred carrier here www.w1ngs.co.za

From Durban:
Take the N2 from Durban heading North past Richards Bay then past Hluhluwe for 26kms. You will arrive at a petrol station / Baobab Inn on your right hand side, turn left onto the dirt road opposite this P450. Travel 9km until you reach our clearly marked gate on your right hand side.
- Bayete Zulu turn-off is situated only 276 kms North of the Umhlanga / Mt. Edgecombe / Gateway off ramp.
- The roads are in excellent condition and the journey time dependant on the driver is between 2.5 to 3 hours including a petrol and refreshment stop.
- We recommend you stop for petrol and refreshments approx. 50 kms from Durban at Mvoti ultra city / plaza and recommend you try the chicken burgers.
- You do not need a 4 x 4 vehicle. The last 9 kms is a good gravel dirt road which I have seen navigated in an M3 BMW. In the unlikely event of heavy rains call the lodge and we will meet you at the N2 arrange safe parking for your vehicle and drive you in by gameviewer.
From Johannesburg:
- There are several easy routes from Johannesburg and surrounds, travelling time to Mkuze approximately 5 hours or less. To find the fastest or shortest route consult shells website www.shellgeostar.co.za.
- From Mkuze travel a further 27 Km until you reach the Baobab Inn/Total petrol station on your left turn right onto the dirt road opposite this P450. Travel 9km until you reach our clearly marked gate on your right hand side.
